Velca Turns Its 130 km/h Vortex Into a 30-Bike Black Edition

Thirty riders can now get a numbered black Vortex, and they don't have to pay extra for it.
Velca has turned its standard Vortex electric motorcycle into a limited Black Edition, with just 30 bikes available in the lot. But unlike plenty of special editions, this one turns out to be a better deal than the standard bike.

30 Bikes, Same Vortex, Extra Kit
The Vortex is Velca's 125-equivalent electric motorcycle, aimed at riders who want something that can keep up with faster roads without moving into the bigger and more expensive electric motorcycle market. It uses an 8kW nominal motor producing 13kW at peak, with a claimed top speed of 130 km/h.
Power comes from an 8.2kWh CATL NMC battery, which Velca says gives the Vortex up to 180km of range. Charging from empty takes a claimed 4.5 hours using the bike's integrated 25A charger.
The Black Edition doesn't change any of those figures. Instead, Velca has given the Vortex an all-black finish and restricted production to 30 numbered motorcycles. The company says the edition celebrates more than 180 Vortex motorcycles already sold in Spain.
And while the Black Edition is mainly about looks and exclusivity, Velca has thrown in a few useful extras. The €7,290 price includes the exterior kickstand, rear backrest and single-seat cover, all of which are optional extras on the standard Vortex. Bought separately, they add up to €127. We reckon that’s a pretty good deal. There’s also a numbered plaque for each of the 30 bikes.
Underneath the black finish, you're still getting the same 196kg motorcycle, including its 46kg battery. There's ABS on both wheels, a five-inch TFT display, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, remote start and an alarm.
Velca lists the Vortex as an L3e-A1 125 equivalent. In Spain, that means it can be ridden on an A1 licence, or by car drivers who have held their licence for at least three years. The 130 km/h top speed also puts it firmly beyond the typical low-speed electric commuter bikes competing for the same urban space.
The Black Edition is being offered through Velca's Spanish network, with dealers in Portugal, but with only 30 being made, availability is going to be the limiting factor rather than production capacity.
The BCB Take
Here's a novelty: a special edition that doesn't seem want ot raid your wallet.
Velca hasn't slapped a badge on the Vortex and asked riders to find another couple of grand down the back of the sofa. The bike stays exactly where it was, while the extras actually make it a better deal.
More than 180 Vortexes are already on the road, so this feels less like an attempt to make people notice the bike and more like Velca celebrating a model that's found its feet.
Black, numbered and better equipped. We'd take that over fake exclusivity any day.
