S4 Honcho Pricing Shows LiveWire Is Staying Grounded

LiveWire has revealed pricing for the S4 Honcho, and the numbers suggest the company is keeping its feet firmly on the ground.

The lightweight electric bike will start at $4,999 in the US, £4,599 in the UK, and €5,399 across Europe.

The Pricing Reset Continues

Over the last 12 months, LiveWire has adjusted pricing across its range, sending a signal to the entire e-moto industry. The S4 Honcho continues that trend, arriving with a price tag that puts it much closer to the bikes riders actually spend their money on.

The Honcho comes in two flavours, Street and Trail, both centred around the same message: "made for backyards, campgrounds, and ripping around the ranch".

LiveWire has released the following headline figures:

Top Speed: 59 mph (95 km/h)

Range: 75 miles (117 km)

0 - 30 mph (48km/h): 3 seconds

Charging: 2 hours in Europe (240v)

Battery: Removable 3.48 kWh

Weight: Street - 120 kg (266 lbs) | Trail - 115 kg (253 lbs)

At £4,599 for the trail version and £4,999 for the street, the S4 enters a competitive part of the market where buyers are looking at everything from electric trail bikes to mid-capacity petrol machines. That means it'll need more than a familiar badge to earn a spot in the garage.

The BCB Take

Not long ago, LiveWire pricing felt like the biggest talking point. That's no longer the case. The S4 Honcho isn't cheap, but it doesn't feel disconnected from the market either. LiveWire seems to have recognised that riders compare bikes against what's sitting next to it in the showroom, not what's claimed on a website.

Whether the S4 is a winner will come down to seat time. The numbers look reasonable, but riders will want to know how it feels once the novelty wears off. At £4,599, the price itself shouldn't be holding it back, and that's exactly where LiveWire wants the conversation to be.

Ride safe, folks.
