Benzina Zero Duo Takes On The Iconic Honda CT110 "Postie" Bike

The humble Australian postie bike has a new electric contender.
More than 100 Benzina Zero Duos are now being used by Australian mail contractors, putting electric motorcycles through one of their toughest real-world tests.
That's a long way from a demonstration fleet. These bikes are out there earning their keep every day.

Benzina Zero’s Duo Passes The Postie Test
The Honda CT110 Postie has been a familiar sight across Australia for decades, but mail contractors are now looking at electric alternatives for their daily rounds.
Benzina Zero says more than 100 Duos are now being used by over 65 Australian mail contractors, replacing ageing petrol-powered postie bikes.
The company has built the Duo around the job, including compatibility with existing mail contractor panniers and top boxes. That means operators don't need to completely change their setup when switching from petrol to electric.
One contractor, Jodie from Clifton, says the Duos have reduced running costs by more than 70%, with charging costing less than a dollar per day. The 50 km/h Duo can also be ridden on a car licence in Australia, making the switch easier for some riders.
This isn't the first time Benzina Zero has proved its bikes can earn their keep. The company has already put its electric scooters to work in commercial fleets, including delivery operations with Domino's in Australia.
For Benzina Zero CEO Joe D'Ercle, one piece of feedback stands above the rest:
"Perhaps the greatest compliment of all is hearing contractors say they would rather ride our product than a Honda. Coming from someone who proudly represented Honda for many years, that is praise we never take for granted."

Forget showroom figures. Forget claimed range charts. A working bike has to start every morning, carry weight, handle bad weather and repeat the same route thousands of times.
The Duo isn't trying to replace a sports bike or win over petrolheads chasing horsepower. It's doing something arguably more important: proving electric bikes can simply get the job done.
If a bike can earn its keep on an Australian mail round, it's already answered one of the biggest questions riders ask about electric motorcycles: can they handle real work?
