What the HEL Has Avenrà Been Up To?

Avenrà, the British outfit behind the EVO electric motorcycle, has been cooking up something with a considerably darker side. Meet the HEL Edition, a black-and-red superbike concept that looks like it has a score to settle.

The EVO already packs a punch, and we've seen what happens when Avenrà turned the wick up on the race edition. Now it's targeting 90 kW, a 150 mph (241 km/h) top speed and 0–60 mph (97 km/h) in around 2.5 seconds. That's quite a leap for a company that only launched the EVO in early 2026.

HEL of a Brief

The clue is in the name. The HEL Edition sees Avenrà teaming up with British performance parts specialist HEL Performance, which already supplies braking hardware for the EVO. This time, HEL’s involvement goes further, with the company set to engineer the chassis, swingarms and headstock in the UK. That’s more than supplying a few shiny bits to bolt on.

Power would come from twin 11.5 kWh battery packs, giving a combined 23 kWh capacity. Avenrà is also targeting up to 400 miles (644 km) range. But before anyone starts planning cross-country trips, that's, as always, a very specific test condition, in ECO mode at a steady 40 mph.

Öhlins suspension is planned, along with 330 mm front discs. Meanwhile, an actively cooled HyperCore 1800 controller and a magnetic-fluid-cooled hub motor are part of the development brief. That last one deserves a closer look when a working prototype appears. Hub motors have their packaging advantages, but managing heat when you're chasing superbike performance is no small engineering challenge.

There's also a lightweight alloy chassis and revised aero package planned. On paper, at least, Avenrà isn't messing about.

From Concept to Concrete

Of course, we've been sent a batch of concept images and what we're seeing looks like the EVO on steroids. Now we want to see it in the metal.

The company plans to build a single, street legal prototype and put it through testing. Then they want dealers, journalists and customers to ride it and feed back their experiences. That input will help shape the eventual production specification.

But there's a sizeable gap between a development brief and a finished motorcycle. We'll reserve judgement until there's a real bike to put through its paces with BCB Ride Time, our bespoke electric motorcycle telemetry app. More on that soon.

Meanwhile, Back with the EVO

There's another matter Avenrà needs to sort out before it can concentrate entirely on what comes next: customers are still waiting for their EVOs.

The company says deliveries have been delayed by the administrative process surrounding its name change from Amperà to Avenrà. It's waiting for the relevant bodies to complete the necessary approvals.

“The delays have been frustrating for everyone involved. We’ve spoken to our customers individually and offered upgrades or refunds as a gesture of appreciation for their patience while we work through the process.” - Paul Cummins, CEO of Avenrà

While the paperwork drags on, the company hasn't been sitting still. That's encouraging, but the EVO remains its flagship, and getting those bikes into customers' hands matters.

The BCB Take

A British-engineered chassis, serious braking hardware and an unusual cooling setup give us plenty to drool over. Avenrà has some properly ambitious targets in mind.

But we want to know more about that battery. Two 11.5 kWh packs add up to a hefty lump of energy to carry around. A hefty lump of weight, too, presumably. And if you drop it? Cue the recovery truck. Or possibly a crane.

The HEL Edition offers a glimpse of where Avenrà wants to go, and the plans sound promising. Now comes the hard part. Deliver on the EVO, build the prototype, get it on the road, and show us what it can do.

Ride safe and happy Halloween, folks.
