Stark Gives the VARG More Control, Not More Power

Updated: 1 day ago

The VARG already has more power than most riders need. Now it’s getting better at putting that power down.

Stark has given riders traction control through a free over-the-air update, now owners have a new way to manage the bike’s instant electric mayhem.

Stark Future has released a software update for all VARG Alpha riders that adds traction control to bikes already in owners garages. No need to visit the dealer, plug in your laptop, or buy new parts. Owners simply install the update and gain access to the new feature.

And this is probably one of the bikes where it makes the most sense. The VARG’s motor delivers huge torque instantly, which is brilliant when you want to launch out of corners or claw your way up steep climbs. But when the surface gets slippery, or you give it a fistful, that same power can have the rear end digging a hole or kicking sideways when you want it pushing forward.

Traction control helps riders manage that power by reducing unwanted wheelspin and giving riders more control when things get sketchy.

Stark Varg Vitals

  • Peak Power: 60 hp (Standard) or 80 hp (Alpha model)

  • Torque: 938 Nm (approx. 691 lb-ft) at the rear wheel

  • Battery: 7.2 kWh capacity (integrated magnesium honeycomb case)

  • Charging Time: 1 to 2 hours with a standard 240V outlet

  • Ride Modes: Over 100 customizable ride modes (adjusting power curves, engine braking, and virtual flywheel

The BCB Take

This is where e-motos start showing off one of their biggest advantages. Modern bikes are already packed with electronics, but updates and new features can still mean a dealer visit, workshop time, or opening your wallet.

OTA is different. The bike sitting in your garage today can gain new tricks tomorrow. And the VARG is exactly the type of bike where that makes sense. When you’ve already got enough power to light up the rear tyre whenever you want, the next step isn’t more, it’s making that power easier to use.

Will traction control make every rider faster? No. Good throttle control is still king, and some riders will switch it off anyway because, let’s face it, wrestling a bike is half the fun. But nobody is going to complain about having more options.

There is one catch, though. The free update only comes to Alpha riders. If you're on a 60 hp VARG, you’ll need to pay for the upgrade first. That’s a £1,000 upgrade just to get there, especially when riders across every VARG model have been asking for traction control on our social channels.

Still, Stark built a bike that can rip your arms off, and now they’re giving riders more ways to keep all that madness pointed in the right direction.

Ride safe, folks.
