Electric Motion and Yamaha Step Into Enduro with EP01

Updated: Apr 14

French brand Electric Motion has teased the EP01, an early-stage enduro prototype that signals a move out of the trials section and into a different kind of off-road territory.

What We Know

EM has built its name on trials, and the precision, balance, and clutch control needed for that discipline. Now the EP01 marks a push into enduro.

EM says the EP01 is built to feel right first, then the tech is layered in. So the rider connection that EM has always leaned on is still front and centre. But enduro isn’t trials with longer trails. It demands range, consistency, and a chassis that can take a beating.

Electric Motion’s ongoing technical partnership with Yamaha adds weight to the project. Rather than a small brand experiment, it looks more like a longer term development path with good backing. That could be the difference between something interesting and something riders buy.

Details are still thin, but EM is leaning on over a decade of trials development.

The BCB Take

Trials rewards finesse. Enduro rewards survival. You need range, stability, and a bike that doesn’t fade halfway through the ride. That’s a jump not every brand can make.

The good news is EM’s whole identity is built around feel, something many electric dirt bikes have struggled to get right. If they can carry that DNA over, especially with proper clutch control and predictable delivery, they’ll have something riders actually rate.

Ride safe, folks.
