Selling Motorcycles for less that an e-bike? Meet Avore

Avore EX 1 Electric Motorcycle

Avore has only just arrived, but it's already putting affordable electric motorcycles on the road, and it's doing it with a three-bike range rather than a single entry-level model.

The new Indian brand's EX range starts at ₹1.25 lakh, roughly £1,000 or US$1,350. It's a price that looks remarkably close to e-bike money from a Western perspective.

Meet Avore

Avore is a very new name in the electric motorcycle world. The brand officially launched in June 2026, but the company behind it, Samarth E-Mobility, had already spent more than three years developing its technology before putting the name on the bikes.

And Avore has moved quickly. The brand launched in June, unveiled its first three motorcycles on 28 July and is already taking pre-orders in India. In other words, a brand that barely existed a couple of months ago already has three electric motorcycles ready to go on sale.

We recently looked at how India's electric two-wheeler market is being pushed forward by both demand and government policy, with Delhi now set to allow only new electric two-wheelers to be registered from April 2028. That's a very different environment to launch a new electric motorcycle brand. Avore doesn't need to convince Indian riders that electric two-wheelers are a thing. It's entering one of the world's biggest two-wheeler markets that's already moving rapidly towards electric.

Avore says it has developed much of the technology behind the bikes in-house, including the battery pack, battery management system, motor, controller, onboard charger and vehicle software. That doesn't automatically explain the low prices, but it could help Avore keep more control over its costs. The real test will be whether it can maintain those prices once it starts building bikes in bigger numbers.

At the bottom of the range, the EX1 uses a 3.24 kWh battery and has a claimed 160 km IDC range. The EX2 moves to a 5 kWh battery and claims 255 km, while the EX2S keeps that battery and adds a 10.5 kW motor, a 114 km/h (71 mph) top speed and a claimed 260 km IDC range.

The EX2S also gets a 7-inch touchscreen, five riding modes and Avore's SYFT system, which uses a foot lever to simulate a conventional gearbox.

These aren't expensive electric motorcycles being made slightly cheaper. They're built around the idea that an electric motorcycle can be an affordable everyday machine.

For now, Avore is only selling in India, although the company has indicated that international expansion is planned. We've heard that before. So that ₹1.70 lakh price can't simply be converted into an international retail price.

The BCB Take

Avore EX

Electric motorcycles with serious performance usually come with serious price tags. Avore is coming at the problem from the other direction: build an electric motorcycle people can actually afford, then give it enough performance to make it more than an expensive commuter appliance.

We shouldn't pretend ₹1.70 lakh in India means a 70 mph electric motorcycle will turn up in Western markets for the equivalent price. It won't.

Different markets and production costs explain some of the gap. They don't make the gap any less interesting. Avore is still putting a 114 km/h electric motorcycle on sale for under $/£2k

For a brand that only launched this summer, that's a pretty good way to get our attention. Ride safe, folks.
