Ultraviolette: India’s High-Performance Electric Motorcycle Pioneer

While brands like Zero, Energica, and LiveWire dominate discussions in the UK, Europe, and the USA, a rising force from India is making waves. Enter Ultraviolette, a Bangalore-based company that’s pushing the limits of electric performance and design.

For those unfamiliar with Ultraviolette Automotive, this Indian manufacturer is redefining what it means to ride electric, blending cutting-edge technology with track-focused performance. And with its growing ambitions in international markets, it’s time for the e-moto community outside of India to pay attention.

A Brief History: From Start-up to Performance Leader

Ultraviolette was founded in 2016 by Niraj Rajmohan and Narayan Subramaniam, two engineers with a vision of developing India’s first high-performance electric motorcycles. Their goal was to create an electric bike that wasn’t just efficient but something that could rival petrol-powered machines in speed, handling, and design.

Backed by TVS Motor Company, one of India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturers, Ultraviolette spent some time developing its flagship bike—the F77. Initially unveiled in 2019, the bike went through several iterations before the production-ready version was officially launched in 2022.

Since then, Ultraviolette has expanded its line-up, setting performance benchmarks and even working on aerospace-inspired e-moto solutions.

Ultraviolette’s Line-up

F77: The F77 is Ultraviolette’s first production model, designed as a track-capable, high-performance electric motorcycle. Unlike commuter-focused electric bikes, the F77 is built for speed with aggressive riding dynamics.

What's Coming Next?

In February 2025, Ultraviolette announced plans to expand its product list with three new e-motorcycles and a long range scooter. This is exciting stuff, but if you're not in India, there's a bigger question at heart: When can I get one?

It's good news and bad news, depending where you are. Right now, Ultraviolette is focused on the Indian market, where it’s building a charging infrastructure and expanding production. Ultraviolette has expressed intentions to enter international markets but currently there's no news of a strategy for the USA. However, in October 2024 the company confirmed plans to launch the F77 in Europe! This is huge news for bikers in the EU and UK and will bring a new set of products to the streets, and we're sure, set some new standards in e-moto.

Final Thoughts: Should You Keep an Eye on Ultraviolette?

Absolutely. Ultraviolette is not just another electric motorcycle start-up—it’s a performance-driven brand with serious engineering pedigree. If you’re in the UK, Europe, or the USA and you’re looking for a new high-performance electric motorcycle, the F77 (or future Ultraviolette models) could be a game-changer when they arrive.

With aerospace-inspired designs, high-speed capabilities, and an expanding global product list, Ultraviolette is set to bring a new level of excitement to the electric motorcycle world. If you’re an early adopter of EVs, it’s worth keeping a close eye on this Indian manufacturer.
