No Flash, Just GR1T

Sitting in a Milan hotel, gearing up for EICMA 2025, it’s hard to know where to start. The e-moto scene is flooded with new machines, new brands, and a tidal wave of tech — some of it shiny and overhyped. But one manufacturer keeps my attention: GR1T Motorcycles.

Their approach is simple and practical, aimed at urban riders who want something that works, looks sharp, and doesn’t scream “corporate prototype.” GR1T isn’t reinventing the wheel with gimmicks. They’re aiming to prove a new electric brand can build bikes that feel legit, loaded with tech, and ready for the streets — not just press photos.

A Brief Background

GR1T hails from Berlin, designing and building its bikes in Europe. Built on three principles — precision, premium, performance — the small, scrappy brand is staking a claim in the crowded European e-moto market, serving urban riders and light off-roaders who want utility without fluff.

For 2025, GR1T returns to EICMA with two new machines after 14 months of testing, signalling their ambition to punch above their weight and compete with bigger, more established brands.

The Offering

GR1T’s line-up is tight and focused: the G1S Street and G1X Scrambler.

GR1T G1S Street

G1S Street – Urban workhorse. Weighs around 127 kg (curb), tops out at ~130 km/h (80 mph), and delivers a city range of roughly 150 km (93 miles). Twin removable NMC battery packs let you charge anywhere — plug in, swap, or haul inside your apartment. A 41 mm inverted fork up front offers a ride that’s firm but forgiving over city bumps. Braking comes courtesy of twin disc front brakes, paired with ABS for added safety and a platform boasting a 27.8kw (36hp) peak output.

G1X Scrambler – Same powertrain, same claimed top speed and range, but geared for versatility. Seat height is 830 mm, rolling on 17” Metzeler Karoo Street tyres. It’s the city bike that doesn’t flinch when the pavement ends, with a rugged look that hints at capability beyond the tarmac.

Both bikes feature a full tech stack: 4G/5G connectivity, keyless start, wireless phone charging, an app with GPS tracking and anti-theft features, and over-the-air software updates.

Pricing starts at about €6,999 (≈ £6,100) for the G1S and around €7,999 for the G1X — placing the GR1T beyond entry-level machines but still far from luxury territory. That puts them in a bracket higher than bikes like the Super Soco TC Max (which lists around £4,000 in the UK) and aligned with the upper end of what you might call the ‘accessible premium’ from brands such as Horwin.

Who They’re For

GR1T isn’t courting touring crews or luxury collectors. The G1S is for daily riders who need a light, nimble, street-ready machine. The G1X caters to weekend explorers hitting the odd off-road trail who don't need a full adventure bike. Range is solid for city riding, but don’t expect it to cruise highways all day.

After the Sale: Can GR1T Deliver?

GR1T G1S Street

GR1T backs its bikes with warranty coverage — including an impressive six-year battery warranty — and offers online support via a ticket system and direct customer service. But the start-up’s credibility will be tested in practice: at launch, full after-sales service and test rides aren’t available in every EU country, and across Europe, the network is still a little patchy. Early adopters may need patience — or a willingness to troubleshoot minor issues themselves. Longevity, reliability, and solid aftercare go hand in hand, and this is where GR1T has the chance to prove it can move from niche curiosity to a serious player in the urban electric motorcycle scene.

Our Take

GR1T hits the sweet spot between tech and no-nonsense riding. It’s not about hype or bling — it’s about bikes that feel like motorcycles, not gadgets. Removable batteries are a smart urban move, and the tech stack is impressive but practical, not just flash.

Execution is the wildcard. Can this scrappy Berlin brand deliver consistent build quality, long-term reliability, and a reliable support system? If yes, GR1T could carve a niche in the urban electric scene. If not, it risks getting buried under the flood of shiny start-ups.

For now, GR1T is worth keeping an eye on. No fluff, no overpromise — just a couple of bikes built to work as hard as the riders who ride them. Tomorrow, I’ll hit the halls and grab some time with their team, hopefully coming back with a clearer picture of what they can really deliver.

Ride safe, folks
