Zero Updates From EICMA: Project Ventura Makes Its Move, a New App and the XE Goes Street-Legal

Zero Motorcycles has pulled the covers off a new lightweight electric motorcycle, and it could be an important addition to a range with a few gaps still to fill.
Revealed at EICMA 2026, Project Ventura is a supermoto-inspired electric street bike aimed at bringing more riders into motorcycling. It also picks up on something Zero CEO Pierre-Martin Bos discussed with BCB earlier this year: the missing middle.
Bos talked about the need for more accessible electric motorcycles, sitting between smaller urban machines and larger, more expensive road bikes. Ventura approaches that challenge from a different angle, targeting riders who might never have considered a Zero.

Project Ventura: Supermoto Fun for a New Generation

Project Ventura borrows from the supermoto world, with 17-inch wheels, road tyres and an upright riding position.
Zero has its sights on new and experienced riders, particularly those moving up from electric bicycles and e-motos. It wants to offer an electric motorcycle that's approachable, but still a laugh to ride.
The projected performance figures look promising. Peak power is expected to top 20kW, with a sustained speed of 105km/h (65mph) and a maximum of 130km/h (80mph). Zero is estimating real-world range at 150km (93 miles). There's room for a passenger, and an onboard Level 2 charger comes as standard.

It's aimed at A1 licence holders in Europe and riders with an M classification in North America. With a target price below £8,000 and availability expected in summer 2027. There are still a few question marks, though. Battery capacity and charging times are yet to be announced, and those performance and range figures remain projections.
Jim Callahan, Zero's Chief Product and Partnerships Officer, says the team had three things in mind: build a bike people would want a poster of, create a natural next step for e-bike and e-moto riders, and make it ridiculously fun to ride.
That's a pretty clear statement of intent. Zero isn't just chasing riders looking to swap petrol for electric. It wants to bring an entirely new crowd into motorcycling.
Zero XE Gets Street-Legal Availability Worldwide

There's also news for the XE. Zero is expanding street-legal availability beyond Europe, including North America and other markets.
Revised gearing and a new rear sprocket add around 10km/h (6mph) to the XE's top speed, taking it to 95km/h (60mph). It also gets wider dual-sport tyres, redesigned lighting, an integrated flyscreen and a centrally mounted dashboard, along with new black bodywork.
The updated XE is expected to reach global markets in early spring 2027, with prices starting at £5,590.
A New App and Faster Charging on the Way

Zero is also working on a new motorcycle app for Project Ventura, the LS3 and its 2027 Street and Dual Sport models, with availability expected in 2027.
There's more charging news, too. Zero is targeting 2027 for Level 3 DC fast charging on compatible Street and Dual Sport motorcycles in Europe and North America. The system is being developed to support CCS in Europe and NACS in North America, with a target of charging from 20% to 80% in under 30 minutes. A retrofit option for eligible existing bikes is also being worked on.
The BCB Take

Project Ventura could be a smart move for Zero. It's a lighter, more accessible motorcycle aimed at bringing a new group of riders into the brand.
More than 20kW of projected peak power, a proposed 93-mile range, room for a passenger and a target price below £8,000 certainly look appealing on paper.
But there are still some big questions. Battery capacity, final weight and charging times will tell us a lot more about how this bike stacks up when it reaches production.
We'd also like to know where Zero sees this going. Is Ventura the start of a wider push into lighter, more accessible electric motorcycles, or a one-off addition to the range?
If Zero gets the production bike right, Ventura could open the door to a whole new generation of electric motorcyclists.
Ride safe, folks.
