SONDORS is Back With a New Electric Motorcycle... Sort Of
SONDORS is back. Again. And this time, it's teasing something called 001.
The company promised to show it off earlier this month. It didn't. And we still don't know exactly what 001 is.
What the Hell is the 001?

The first teaser for 001 appeared on the SONDORS website in August 2026, showing an electric two-wheeler of some sort, and little else.
There were no confirmed specifications, no price and no delivery timeframe. Just a picture and a date. That date was 3 September 2026. It came and went without SONDORS showing its hand.
Instead, the website replaced the date with the words “THE LIST IS CLOSED”. A support tab also appeared, with contact details and two words that don't exactly inspire confidence. “No promises.”

The teaser doesn't give us enough to say exactly what 001 is. It appears to show a small electric two-wheeler with a long seat, wide tyres and upright handlebars. But there's also a substantial central body that looks larger than you'd normally expect on an e-bike, raising the possibility that this could be another small motorcycle with a battery hidden inside the bodywork. That's what got our attention.
SONDORS has not confirmed the specifications, price or even exactly what category the machine will fall into. But Storm Sondors has confirmed that 001 isn't the previously announced Meta AT, so we're looking at another new machine from the revived SONDORS brand.
SONDORS Has Been Here Before

SONDORS first made its mark in 2015 with a roughly $500 fat-tyre e-bike launched through crowdfunding. The company went on to build a substantial e-bike business, claiming to have sold more than 63,000 units.
Then came the Metacycle. Launched in 2021 at a headline price of around $5,000, it promised a highway-capable electric motorcycle for considerably less than most models on the market. Deliveries were repeatedly delayed, specifications changed, and just shy of 2,000 Metacycles were eventually delivered.

By late 2023, SONDORS had entered receivership, with its assets put up for sale through Rock Creek Financial Advisors. The receiver's material said the company had more than 10,000 Metacycle cash deposits worth over $19.9 million.
Then came the first comeback. Storm Sondors bought the company back out of receivership and relaunched SONDORS in 2025 with the Meta AT, a smaller off-road electric motorbike. It was put up for pre-order and raised money through an Indiegogo campaign, but the bike never appears to have made it into production or customer hands.
Now, barely a year later, Storm Sondors is back again with 001.
The BCB Take

We're all for another electric motorcycle company having another crack at it. But SONDORS isn't starting from scratch. It has a history, and riders remember it.
The electric motorcycle world needs more bikes, and 001 certainly has our attention. But right now, there's more mystery than machine. After everything that's happened with SONDORS, the next step is simple. Show us the bike, tell us what it can do, and let riders decide whether this one is worth taking seriously.
For now, 001 is still a mystery. And that's probably what makes this comeback worth keeping an eye on.
Ride safe, folks.
