KTM Stays in the Dirt Fight for 2027

While the rumour mill keeps swinging at KTM, the Austrian brand has quietly rolled out some solid progress. The 2027 Freeride E isn’t a reinvention, but it’s a clean, rider-focused step forward.

Freeride E 2027: What's New?

The biggest news is the battery. Capacity jumps to 5.5 kWh, around 1.5 kWh more than the previous bike, with KTM claiming roughly 20% more ride time or, "2–3 hours of enduro riding". That’s the upgrade that matters most to riders: more range, longer sessions, and a bike you can actually stay out on.

A bigger battery, but charge time hasn’t budged. Specs on the onboard charger look unchanged, which points to a tweak in the battery chemistry.

Power hasn’t gone up, but apparently sharpened where it counts. Peak output stays at 19.2 kW, but the delivery is supposed to be smoother and more controlled. So, less snatch, more usable drive. The nominal power has actually dropped since 2025, which could be considered a downgrade, but KTM has likely tuned the system for the same performance from a smaller motor.

Weight has come down slightly to around 112 kg. Not dramatic.

The electronics package still earns its keep. Three ride modes, adjustable regen, traction control, and a rollover cut-off system give riders ways to tune the bike to conditions. Practical solutions that add flexibility where it counts.

Chassis updates include revised geometry and a longer wheelbase for improved stability.

The BCB Take

For anyone craving the full spec sheet, it’s pasted below.

For KTM riders, this is an acceptable step up. For new riders, KTM just became a better option. Strip it back and the story’s simple: no jump in headline power, but a better battery, smoother delivery, and a more stable chassis. It’s not a reinvention, it’s a bike that’s being continually dialled in.

Ride safe, folks.
