Naxeon I AM: The Bike That Doesn’t Care About Your Dad’s Garage

It’s about time we gave Naxeon some space in this newsletter. Their urban e-moto, the I AM, has been floating around Europe and the UK for a short while, and it’s exactly the kind of bike younger riders should be paying attention to. Forget retro chrome and nostalgia trips — this thing is built for people who want their motorcycle to feel more like a smartphone, not a history lesson.

The Look: Half Scrambler, Half Showpiece

The I AM has an unmistakable personality. If you squint, you can see echoes of a scrambler in its DNA. The upright stance, 17″ wheels, and short rear overhang add to the illusion — but it’s wrapped in clean, contemporary lines that make it look like a design study rather than a typical city bike.

The forged aluminium chassis keeps the bike light, while the hub motor on the rear wheel delivers smooth, instant torque without clutter. Up front, the parallelogram fork handles dive under braking, designed to give you confidence when cornering or weaving through traffic.

The details feel intentional: integrated lighting, tidy panels, and subtle tech cues that signal modernity without overcomplicating the design. The ergonomics are compact but practical.

Put simply, it’s electric, rides electric, and looks like no other urban e-moto on the street. It’s like a DB1 and an F77 hooked up and spawned an urban e-moto baby.

The Gadget Factor

This is where the I AM flexes; the cockpit is all business — a full 7″ TFT touchscreen puts the key information front and centre. As expected, riders get details on speed, battery state, range, and ride mode. In addition, you've got navigation and connectivity baked in and 4G, Wi‑Fi, and Bluetooth allow for over-the-air firmware updates, smartphone pairing, and app-based control.

Ride modes include three options: Sail, Dynamic, and ZigZag, letting the rider adjust throttle response and regeneration levels for city streets or more spirited commuting. Cruise control and a reverse gear come as standard for convenience and manoeuvrability in tight spaces.

Safety and security tech is integrated throughout including dual front and rear dashcams with automatic recording, blind-spot detection (depending on the market), anti-lock braking (ABS/CBS), traction control, and app-controlled alarm, anti-theft, and immobiliser functions. If someone is messing with your ride when you're not there, expect your phone to ping you.

The semi-solid-state battery is rated for around 1,500 full charge cycles, providing semi-long-term durability without adding unnecessary weight. Every control and sensor is designed to keep the ride intuitive while giving riders access to the modern features they expect in a connected e-moto.

So, Who the Hell is Naxeon?

Firstly, they’re not a decades-old brand dusting off heritage brochures. Naxeon is the new kid on the block, out of Chongqing, China. Founded in 2021 by a former Lifan—a Chinese motorcycle and automobile manufacturer—president and a small team looking to carve out space in the e-moto world. The I AM is their first production bike, launched after a couple of years of R&D and introduced to Europe at EICMA 2023.

Since then they've linked up with Milan-based E-Quilibrium to get distribution rolling across the France, Belgium, and Germany. Their pitch is straightforward: clean design, recycled materials in the chassis and bodywork, and a connected dash that feels more modern than most bikes at this price point.

Naxeon isn’t here to shock the world with wild tech — they’re aiming for something more subtle but just as deliberate. Their goal seems to be a fully connected urban e-moto that challenges the classic motorcycle silhouette. They’re targeting riders who want a bike that looks fresh and sharp, feels agile and city-ready, confidently owning its identity as a lightweight, electric commuter with attitude.

Naxeon is definitely not for the old guard. The I AM is for riders who want their bike to feel as modern as their phone. If you’re into café racer cosplay, keep scrolling. If you want something light, connected, and unapologetically futuristic, this one’s worth a look. So, if you’re a city rider who's looking for something that actually belongs in 2025, we think you’ve found it.

Ride safe, folks.
