District ADV: LAND’s Take on Electric Adventure

Updated: 3 days ago

Earlier this week, Land Moto launched their ADV — and yes, it landed a couple of days before we expected it. First impressions? Good. While it wears a proper ADV stance, the vision keeps that unmistakable LAND styling that’s helped them stand out from the crowd.

Let’s take a look at what’s new, what works, and what we think of this latest e-moto.

What’s LAND's District ADV?

LAND are calling it the District ADV. It’s their first dedicated adventure / dual-sport electric machine, built on the company’s lightweight District platform. This one, though, is quoted as being engineered for life beyond tarmac — designed to actually handle rough stuff instead of just looking the part.

Core Specs (standard model):

  • Power: 12 kW nominal / ~17 kW peak

  • Top Speed: 60-70 mph / 97 - 113km/h (claimed)

  • Torque: 345Nm

  • Battery: 4.8 kWh usable (5.5 kWh max)

  • Charging: ~5 hrs standard onboard charger

  • Suspension: Fully adjustable — ~7.5″ front travel / ~4″ rear travel

  • Ground Clearance: ~9″

  • Seat Height: ~32.5 – 36″ depending on setup

  • Wheels/Tires: LAND X-spoke tubeless wheels with dual-sport rubber

  • Display: High-Viz TFT with ride data & connectivity

  • Weight: 250 lbs depending on battery size

Package highlights include regen braking, reverse gear, full fairing and windshield, RAD rack system, adventure ergonomics, and hi-viz lighting.

There’s also a limited Ascent Edition, featuring forged carbon components, gold-anodised wheels, and a torque-boosting tune — clearly aimed at early adopters and collectors.

What works on LAND's ADV?

1) Lightweight ADV vibe without the circus: At ~250 lbs (113kg) it's basically ready to ride, and stays in the playful category, not the lumbering big-bike muddle. That alone opens up real backroad and trail options without leaving you cooked before the fun starts.

2) Real suspension and clearance: Long-travel, fully adjustable forks paired with a proper rear shock and nearly 9″ of ground clearance give it hardware that feels meant for dirt and gravel — not just parking-lot photo ops.

3) Usable tech, not gimmicks. A bright TFT and regen braking — useful tools that matter when you’re threading tight trails or backing out of awkward spots. Early word is the regen isn’t overly aggressive either, closer to natural engine braking on an ICE equivalent.

4) Spoked tubeless wheels. Less maintenance hassle than taped rims, while keeping the flexibility ADV riders want without sacrificing modern convenience.

This isn’t a flashy tarmac invader with knobbly tyres pinned on. It’s a genuine attempt to build an electric bike that’s actually capable off the pavement — and that’s a line Land is walking well here.

That quoted 345 Nm of torque points to an aggressive mid-motor setup, which should translate into very usable grunt on trails where kilowatts don’t tell the full story.

Range will be the elephant in the room. 4.8 kWh usable is modest for true all-day ADV runs, and a heavy right wrist on the road or sustained trail chatter could chew through miles faster than you’d like. Plus, no DC charging. Still, for light adventure days, the District ADV should sit in a sweet spot — with regen helping stretch things out.

Bottom line: LAND’s ADV looks light, focused, and purposeful. If you want one e-moto that can commute on Monday and hit real terrain on Sunday without needing a support truck, this one makes a lot of sense. It doesn’t promise the moon — but the spec sheet suggests it's ready to deliver usable off road experiences. And yeah, it looks the bomb too.

Ride safe, folks
