Under Wraps: Honda’s Electric Sports Bike Plays Hide-and-Seek

So, earlier this month, Honda’s latest tease arrived — a fully electric sports motorcycle, wrapped in camouflage vinyl that looks like someone balled up yesterday’s newspaper. Either that, or they've hired Sam Cox (Mr. Doodles) to do the paint job. The big question: what is this thing, and why is Honda trying so hard to hide it?
The Elephant in the Paddock

Let’s address this straight away: that black and white graffiti look is a vinyl wrap, meant to hide the bike to obscure its design, but ironically they already showed us what it looks like — back at EICMA 2024, when they unveiled the EV Fun Concept. We were there and took our own photos. So either Honda is playing coy, or the bike we’re about to see has changed significantly since Milan. If it’s the same bike, the wrap seems redundant. If it’s different… then we’re in for some surprises.
We don’t have long to wait either — whispers in the paddock say the next reveal is set for September 16, 2025.
What Do We Know — and What We Still Have to Guess?
We've tried to peel back the camouflage and see what data we can gather about this new bike, but as of now, Honda has revealed only fragments of details around the bike’s technology. So, we don’t yet have full specs and no confirmed battery capacity, motor output, weight, range, or pricing.
BUT, here are the key bits and pieces we’ve been able to pull together so far:
Fast charging: The bike will use a CCS2 / Combo 2 DC fast-charge inlet — a major plus for European and international riders.
Range: Leaked prototype images suggest a usable range in the ballpark of ~129 km (≈80 mi) per charge, but Honda has not confirmed any official figure.
Performance class: Honda has only called it a full-size electric motorcycle — any comparison to petrol displacement classes is still speculative.
Handling hardware: The EICMA concept featured inverted forks and radial brakes. It’s not yet confirmed if those details — or the swingarm design — made it to production.
One prototype test image showed a display reading 44 km remaining range at 34% charge, which suggests a full-charge estimate of around 129 km (≈80 mi) — which is better than earlier urban-only estimates, but still modest for a road-going electric sports bike. The tease is getting under our skin, and we’re fighting the urge to line it up against Tacita’s Italian e-motorbikes.
So… Should We Be Excited?

Here’s the reality: this is a potentially important step for Honda, but it also raises some questions. If the production bike is very close to the EV Fun concept, then Honda is leaning into a sleek, naked, midweight electric sports style — which could make sense for city and spirited road use, especially in Europe, India, and urban America. But the camouflage suggests either Honda is hiding changes or hedging bets about final design choices — maybe battery layout or styling tweaks that could affect performance or range.
If the final product ends up short on battery capacity or top-end range — though we hope not from Honda — it may struggle to compete with other electric bikes already targeting touring or performance segments. On the flip side, if Honda can deliver better range, fast charging, and engaging handling, this could be a solid middle option for riders who want more than a scooter but don’t want to carry a giant battery pack.
Bottom Line

Until September 16, we won’t know how much of the EV Fun concept made it to production, or whether Honda has rethought everything. What we do know is that Honda is serious about pushing into electric sports bikes, and they’re playing a tight game of hide-and-seek with this one. Whether the final product is a polished mid-weight electric bit of fun or a compromised electric commuter remains to be seen — either way, we'll be watching closely.
Ride safe, folks.
