NIU isn’t just playing in the city-scooter sandbox anymore. At EICMA 2025, they dropped the Concept 06 — not just another commuter, but a forward-looking concept that shows exactly where they think urban mobility is headed.
While it’s still a prototype, it shows NIU stepping deeper into the premium, tech-rich maxi-scooter space that’s been heating up fast.
Sharp Lines, Future Vibes
Right away, the design language signals a shift. The Concept 06 still looks unmistakably NIU, but sharper, sleeker, and more mature — like the brand traded its hoodie for a tailored jacket. It’s bigger, broader, and styled with the kind of presence you expect from a maxi-scooter and built for proper urban and suburban range, not just neighbourhood hops.
Brains to Match the Bodywork
The Concept 06 is stacked with tech. You’re getting a radar-assisted safety suite, a 360° camera system, and NIU’s new “KI-Pilot” AI, which learns your habits and tweaks performance, lighting, and alerts as you ride.
Adaptive headlights, traction management, and constant environmental monitoring round out the package, making this one of the smartest scooters NIU has ever built. While the big legacy moto brands are only just warming up to this level of intelligence, NIU's already diving in headfirst.

Motor power: 20 kW peak (presumably 9-10kw rated)
Battery: Undisclosed but performance points to 6-9kw range

On paper, it’s right where a modern maxi-scooter should be — powerful enough for ring roads and dual carriageways, compact enough for tight city work, and smart enough to feel like it belongs in 2027 rather than 2017.
Connectivity and intelligent riding systems aren’t just coming — they’re becoming the baseline. And while we’ve raised an eyebrow at stuffing big tourers full of digital nannies, we think scooters are where this tech genuinely fits.
Why Now?
NIU is signaling that their next wave of products will cater to riders who want bigger, faster, safer machines. The Concept 06 is clearly aimed at a European market where power and range are top priorities, compared to China's dense urban landscape where scooters are slower and have access to a healthy dose of charging stations.
But the 06 isn’t here to replace their popular city scooters; it’s a step into a higher class where SYM, Kymco, and even BMW have held territory for years. If NIU can bring this to production without watering it down, they’ll have a proper contender on their hands.
For now, it’s only a concept — no production dates, no pricing hints, no promises. But as a direction of travel? It’s promising, polished, and undeniably ambitious.
